Debjit Mukherjee: In a statement on Saturday evening, the army said that during a search operation in Uri, Pakistan Army fired on Indian troops. Indian army copters were also fired at. The third militant managed to escape due to ‘cover fire’.
Army chief Brigadier PMS Dhilon said three to four militants were trying to enter Uri through Hatlanga canal. At that time, the gun battle continued for about two hours.
