News Desk: After Congress leader R Dhruvanarayana and Bihar RJD president Jagdanand Singh, well known lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar on Friday said that the mentality of those supporting RSS, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal is the same as that of Taliban.
Akhtar said “There is no doubt that the Taliban are barbaric and their actions are condemnable. But those who support the RSS, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, and the Bajrang Dal are also like that”
“There’s a similarity between Taliban and those who behave like them. I was shocked when I came to know that some Muslims in the country welcomed their rise to power. Most of the Muslims I spoke to were surprised that some people made such statements. In India, Muslims want good employment, good education, and good schools for their children. But, on the other hand, there are some who believe in such narrow thinking- where women and men are treated differently and backwards thinking is kept” he added.
He also said “No matter how many radical ideologies are there in India, but India can never become Taliban as majority here is secular. They are civilised and respect each other”
Reaction of BJP
BJP MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar released a video in which he said
“Javed Akhtar has hurt Hindu sentiments by comparing RSS, VHP to Taliban. I challenge you…. Go to Afghanistan and Pakistan and show a statement against Taliban. Hindus are in majority in India, so democracy remains intact. Javed Akhtar should apologize to Hindu society and withdraw his statement. Otherwise be ready for legal action”
