News Desk: Lawyer activist Prashant Bhushan got fined Re 1 by Supreme Court for his controversial tweets against apex court and Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde.
Bhushan tweeted “My lawyer & senior colleague Rajiv Dhavan contributed 1 Re immediately after the contempt judgement today which I gratefully accepted”
The judges decided that if Bhushan fails to deposit Re 1 within September 15, then he’ll be sentenced for a three months prison and also he won’t be allowed to practise for three years. According to the judges, Bhushan’s tweets were not based on strong evidences and it would’ve hampered the image of the judiciary.
