“Remember, in the near future, the entire country will be witness to a game”: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

News Desk: Dribbling a football at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on the occasion of launching “Khela Hobe Divas”, on Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee talked about the popularity of the slogan. She also said that the entire nation will be witness to a match that will be played in the days to come and also said that Bengal will take pride in showing India the way.

She said “You may or may not agree but it’s a fact that the slogan has become very popular in the country. In Parliament and several states like UP and Rajasthan, too, the slogan was raised”

“Bengal can take pride in showing people the way in this match. Remember, in the near future, the entire country will be witness to a game. There cannot be any life without khela. I heard people chanting the slogan everywhere I went during electioneering for the assembly polls” she added.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also said “Our government has granted 5 lakh each to 25,000 sporting clubs across the state. We have done community development programmes to take sports forward. I believe to take forward ‘Khela hobe’ and we have to take it through sports. As many as one lakh footballs would be distributed among the sporting clubs in various districts of the state”
