TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee to visit Tripura on Friday to protest against the detention of IPAC team

News Desk: TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee will visit Tripura on Friday to protest against the detention of poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s IPAC team members. 

Tripura TMC president Ashish Lal Singh said “Few of the top TMC leaders have arrived in Agartala today at 10:00am. I personally received them at the airport. MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar will arrive tomorrow and Abhishek Banerjee will reach the state on Friday”

“Our party workers in Dharmanagar, including youth wing president and district president were brutally beaten up by the police there today as they were holding a protest rally against the detention of the I-PAC team members” he alleged.

Earlier TMC party workers in Tripura have launched a state-wide protest against the detention of poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s IPAC team by police in an Agartala hotel. Protest rallies are being organized by the TMC in several districts of Tripura.

Tripura TMC president Ashish Lal Singh had said “Democracy is being raped in Tripura. I am utterly shocked and ashamed. This is not the culture of Tripura”

“I have informed Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee about the issue. They are keeping a close watch on all the development” he added.

As per last updates, IPAC members have been summoned by the Tripura Police on August 1. They have been served notice under a section of criminal law that leaves them open to arrest.
