UP Assembly Polls: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to visit Varanasi next month to help SP chief Akhilesh Yadav

News Desk: TMC supremo and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to visit Varanasi next month to help Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in the upcoming assembly election in Uttar Pradesh.

Laliteshpati Tripathi, ex-vice president of the state Congress and great-grandson of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kamlapati Tripathi, who recently joined TMC, said that the date of her visit is not yet finalised.

When asked about the party’s plans on strengthening themselves in the state, he said that Uttar Pradesh is not the immediate focus of the TMC and said that the party is willing to support Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav to ensure the defeat of the Yogi Adityanath led BJP government.

Meanwhile, SP’s national vice-president Kiranmoy Nanda said that the party is happy with Mamata Banerjee’s gesture and will be happy if she supports them.
