Uttar Pradesh: Congress attacks BJP, tensed situation in state

News Desk: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Lucknow to launch 75 urban projects, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, who has been confined to a guest house in Sitapur, asked why opposition leaders like her are under detention “without any FIR”, but why isn’t minister’s son under arrest.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh minister Mohsin Raza said that the opposition wanted to incite riots. “We are deeply saddened by the incident in Lakhimpur. The people of the opposition are going to do politics over the dead bodies. The country saw the negative role of the opposition in this. Action will be taken after investigation and those found guilty will not be spared” he added.

In Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur, Congress supporters staged protest outside PAC guest house to demand release of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. In Meerut, nearly 18 people were arrested after several police personnel sustained burn injuries in the wake of protest. “More or less, the protest was peaceful but some organisations took law in their hands, didn’t bother about others’ lives” city’s SP Vineet Bhatnagar said.
