West Bengal: CM Mamata Banerjee slams center over rising prices of gas, diesel and petrol

News Desk: Hitting out at the BJP government at the center at a programme organised by the state government for awarding organisers of the best Durga Pujas , West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that the center is blocking the money of common people. She also claimed that the daily price rise of the three is affecting the agricultural work of the farmers severely.

Central government collected around Rs 4 lakh crore from taxes levied on cooking gas, petrol and diesel

She said “Center has collected around Rs 4 lakh crore from taxes levied on cooking gas, petrol and diesel. They are giving Rs 1000 crore financial assistance to the states they rule. But they don’t give anything to West Bengal”

“They do not give us vaccines. How can you expect them to provide us financial help” she added.

She further said “We give a concession of Re 1 per litre of diesel. Where will we get the money? Despite the financial constraints we give such concessions … It’s natural that prices of day-to-day commodities will go up if the price of diesel goes up everyday. How will the farmers carry out their agricultural work? They need diesel to carry out their work”

Pointing out the fact that West Bengal holds first position in India in terms of MSME sector, she said “There are several industries which have been set up and there are more which are coming up. There is only one problem – that is the prices of diesel, petrol and gas are being raised everyday”

Center blocked the money of common people

She alleged “Common people’s money is being blocked by the center”

“The manner in which disinvestment is taking place and central government organisations like SAIL, rail and coal and others are being shut down, there will be more unemployed people in the country” she added.
