West Bengal: CM Mamta Banerjee breaks silence on the controversy over ‘Biswa Bangla’ logo on government school uniforms

News Desk: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday breaks silence on the controversy over ‘Bishwa Bangla’ logo on the blue and white uniform of government school while standing on the stage of Netaji Indore Widow Allowance Ceremony.

She said “How can I forget my Bengali name? I give shoes and clothes in government school. It will have a logo. They will proudly say the name of Bengal. The one who has filed a case keeps no information. I made it and gave it to the Bengali government. I gave all the government logos. I have not taken any money. Private schools can use badges as they wish. Government schools can do the same. There is no restriction. Only school uniforms will have a logo”.

At the same time, she slammed the central government and said “Central government can put a seal on it. Bengal government can’t. The ones who are at Delhi put up pictures of themselves. We don’t do that”.

It is to be noted that a lawyer named Soumen Haldar filed a case in the High Court on behalf of the leftist student organization AISF over the Bishwa Bangla logo on the blue and white uniform of the government school. A part of the BJP has also spoken out against this directive.
