West Bengal: Fire broke out at Nabanna, probe ordered into the incident

News Desk: Fire broke out at the top floor of the Nabanna building, where chief minister Mamata Banerjee sits, on Tuesday noon. The incident created panic among top officials. No casualties were reported as the state secretariat is closed due to Durga Puja. A high-level probe has been ordered into the incident.

Actual Incident

According to a senior official, “The fire was spotted at 11.54am on the roof from the electric panel of a Vodafone signal tower”.

The police officials alerted the firefighters after spotting the fire and within minutes, the fire was brought under control. “A fire audit has been directed as the CM’s office is on the 14th floor” a fire official said. Fire officials also said that three fire tenders were pressed into service to control the fire.

Vodafone officials and civil and electrical wings of the PWD will be questioned during the process of the probe.
