Bengal BJP unit issued legal notices to two MLAs who defected to TMC

News Desk: The Bengal BJP unit on Wednesday issued legal notices to Tanmoy Ghosh and Biswajit Das, who defected to the TMC. The current strength of BJP in the state is 72.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said “Even after winning 213 seats, the Trinamool needs more MLAs. More than 50 MLAs of different parties have joined the Trinamool Congress since it came to power in 2011. Left and Congress did not seriously take up these defections. From the BJP, we can assure that we will take it to its logical conclusion in a democratic manner”

“I was not in touch with Das and Ghosh for the past few months. Dilip babu tasked me with enforcing the anti-defection law. We will set a precedent to stop the trend of factionalism without resigning. Defection is not a new phenomenon and it is not going to affect us” he added.

On this TMC spokesperson, Kunal Ghosh said “He is trying to hide his inefficiency in handling party MLAs by claiming that he was not in touch with them”
