Bengal post poll violence: State government appoints 10 IPS officers to assist SIT

News Desk: The West Bengal government on Thursday appointed ten IPS officers to assist the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Calcutta HC to probe post poll violence cases in the state.

An official said “We are appointing 10 IPS officers for north, south, west and Kolkata Police areas zones to assist the Special Investigation Team”

“The services of the IPS officers are hereby spared, in addition to their normal duties, to assist the SIT constituted by the Hon’ble High Court at Calcutta” he added.

On Wednesday, the TMC challenged Calcutta HC’s order and approached Supreme Court in connection with this case. The TMC claimed partiality in CBI probing.
