Bhawani Bhawan likely to seek legal recourse as CISF personnel did not turn up to record their statements despite being served three notices

News Desk: Weeks after six CISF personnel summoned by CID in the Sitalkuchi firing incident did not turn up to record their statements, despite being served three notices, Bhawani Bhawan has indicated that it is likely to seek legal recourse.

Top CID officials said they have not yet received any communication from the CISF if the officers were willing to come to Kolkata to face the Special Investigation Team. “We are planning to move court soon. But before we do that, we are going to take legal advice. We want to be sure of the evidence we produce in court,” said an officer.

Sources said they might now move the Calcutta High Court directly once the case comes up for hearing. “When we inform the court about the probe in the next hearing, we will tell the court why examining them is important,” said an officer.

The CID officer once again ruled out any virtual questioning, stating it was not covered under the CrPC. The CISF team’s statements are necessary to “compare with statements from locals, the former SP, the SDPO and the Mathabhanga cops”, the officer added.
