News Desk: Bengal BJP has written to the Election Commission mentioning that their Bhabanipur candidate Priyanka Tibrewal was “assaulted and molested” by DCP South.

The letter submitted to the Election Commission mentioned: “Molestation and physical assault of our candidate Smt Priyanka Tebrewal and MPs Dr Sukanta Majumdar state President, Shri Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato, and Shri Arjun Singh. This is to bring to your urgent attention, for necessary action and intervention, that there has been a blatant violation to stop a free and fair election and with the intention of creating unrest during the election”

According to the letter, the incident took place on September 23, when BJP’s Bhabanipur candidate Priyanka Tebrewal along with Sukanta Mujumdar, MP, Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato MP, and Arjun Singh MP, was on a peaceful last-rites procession of post poll victim Manash Saha, who succumbed to injuries suftered suffered due to post-poll atrocity committed by TMC.

“To our utter disbelief and shock, the police force led by DCP south, Akash Magharia, Kolkata Police took it upon him to break the peaceful procession and physically started to drag, push, shove and everything within his physical prowess at Dr. Sukant a Majumder. The same officer molested and inappropriately manhandled Priyanka Tebrewal and some women present”

The letter added “This kind of unlawful behaviour by a civil servant working at the behest of the party in power not only breaks the morale of every proud Indian but also breaks the law U/S 166, 166A, 334, 354,336, 339,349, 350,351, 354, 354(A) (B), 355 IPC”

The party demands that the DCP South, Akash Magharia, and other Kolkata Police officers present at the spot, be identified and removed immediately from election duty. They also demanded suspension of the officers.
