News Desk: The Bharatiya Janata Party of West Bengal announced it’s 15 member panel of observers to oversee the Bhawanipore polls. It will be led by MP Arjun Singh, who has been made party-in-charge and Saumitra Khan and Jyotirmay Singh Mahato will assist the leader in the panel as co-observers.
8 BJP MLAs – Bankim Ghosh, Ashok Dinda, Shankar Ghosh, Sushanta Ghosh, Malati Rava Roy, Laxman Ghorui, Biman Ghosh and Pawan Singh – have been given charge of 8 wards in the constituency.
Sanjay Singh has been made the Organisational in-charge along with co-incharges Shankar Sikdar and Somnath Banerjee.
Priyanka Tibrewal as BJP candidate against chief minister Mamata Banerjee
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of West Bengal fielded lawyer Priyanka Tibrewal against chief minister Mamata Banerjee in the Bhabanipur bypolls on September 30.
Speaking to reporters after the announcement, Tibrewal said “I have been working for the people for the last 8-9 years. I have filed PILs for people to get justice, which will continue. Giving me the ticket was high command’s instruction and I’m thankful to them for that. The top leadership thinks I’m the right candidate against chief minister Mamata Banerjee and they also saw how I interact with the common people”
“I have defeated the chief minister in the high court in the first fight. Because when she said there was no violence, I proved there was violence and the court order proves this too. The way we have seen people being killed in West Bengal, the murders, rapes, vandalism. But the chief minister has been silent. Our fight is against that silence” she added.
When asked whether she’ll be able to defeat chief minister Mamata Banerjee or not, she said “Mamata Banerjee is a two-time MLA from Bhabanipur but I was born there. It is my ancestral house, so I was born and brought up in Bhabanipur. I believe Mamata Banerjee doesn’t want the votes of outsiders or Hindi-speaking people. Certainly, she will get a befitting reply”
