Debjit Mukherjee: Big blow for BJP before 2024 Lok Sabha elections. “Shiromani Akali Dal will not hold the hands of BJP,” the party’s senior leader Naresh Gujral made it clear.
When asked the reason, he said, “Shiromani Akali Dal is a local party. Our focus is Punjab. We should follow the Karunanidhi model. Every time their patty lost they returned to the ground and strengthened the party’s position in the state. Whether we get 4 or 5 seats in Lok Sabha or not is not important to us. I want to look at the next election.”
He also said, “If Congress and AAP form an alliance in Punjab, the Akali Dal will emerge as a bigger force. Even during the recent floods, we also stood by the people of the state.”
