Debjit Mukherjee: Violence in Manipur over the death of two students. The unrest has started again in the state. Demonstrations and vandalism are going on in places. Students took to the streets to protest the death of a student. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said on Wednesday that he had spoken to Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the death of two students. He assured immediate arrest and strict punishment of the accused. Meanwhile, the CBI team reached Imphal on Wednesday to investigate.
A team of CBI officials led by the agency’s Special Director Ajay Bhatnagar reached Manipur’s capital Imphal on Wednesday and began investigating the crime. The focus of the central investigation agency will be to identify the crime scene, recover the dead body and nail the culprits.
