News Desk: Leader of Opposition, in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari on Friday said that post-poll violence in the state is still going on.
Adhikari said “The NHRC report is the tip of the iceberg and it is a point of discussion across the country. Altogether 6,500 complaints have been lodged, and NHRC could speak and analyse around 2,000 complaints. Just imagine the whole scenario. BJP workers are attacked every day and even today”
“The administration is not even not even following the high court’s directions to convert complaints into FIRs and to provide ration and medical help to the victims” he added.
Adhikari also alleged “Nothing has been followed in accordance with the court, And every day, we are getting new reports of post-poll violence”
BJP chief spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said “There is lawlessness in the state. Several MLAs and councillors were named in the NHRC report. It is unfortunate that in a state like West Bengal democracy is on the backfoot”
As soon as chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Thursday that she will visit Delhi next week starting from July 25, the BJP MLAs said that they will raise their voices against the TMC on the streets of Delhi.
A BJP leader said “Armed with the findings of the NHRC which revealed the lawlessness in the state, our party’s elected MLAs from Bengal will demonstrate in Delhi. We will highlight the plight of the common people. The NHRC said the situation in Bengal is the manifestation of the law of the ruler, instead of rule of law. Our direction of protest will be aimed at the Commission’s findings”
Sources in the saffron camp said “The decision to stage a demonstration in Delhi was taken on Friday. We will portray Mamata as a head of a state who failed to protect her own people from the violence unleashed by her party workers”
