“Branding Priyanka Tibrewal outsider is insult to Marwari women”: Smriti Irani

News Desk: Addressing a meeting of the Marwari and Gujarati communities,    Union women and child development minister Smriti Irani, on Saturday, said that branding a local candidate, Priyanka Tibrewal, as outsider is insult to the Marwari community. She also claimed that the chief minister is contesting from Bhawanipore for her own political interests.

She said “Labelling people who are living in the state for generations as outsiders is insulting to them. Branding Priyanka Tibrewal outsider is insult to Marwari women living in Kolkata for centuries”

Slamming the TMC government over post-poll violence in the state, Irani said “Many women were raped and many of our activists were killed. This is what they meant by khela hobe”

“A 60-year-old woman is raped before her six-year-old grandson after the polls. Priyanka is now fighting her case. A candidate was beaten up with rods and her daughter made futile calls to police on the date of the counting. He died yesterday. This is khela hobe of the Trinamool Congress of Mamata Banerjee” she added.

She also alleged that the chief minister is contesting from Bhawanipore for her own political interests and is not interested in the welfare of the people of Bhawanipore.
