Debjit Mukherjee: Congress accuses BJP of changing the wording of the Constitution. Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi and MP Adhir Chowdhury spoke about this issue on Wednesday morning.
Adhir Chowdhury said, “When I was reading, I did not find these two words. Later I added these two words by myself. In 1976, the words were amended and added. From this behavior, it is understood that the constitution is currently in crisis.”
Law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said, “In the first draft of the constitution, these two words were not there. The copy of that was given to the MPs.” Sushil Modi, another BJP MP, said, “Not even once have we said that this is a revised copy. The first copy did not have these words. Also, does the word socialist have any significance in today’s society? Unnecessary controversy is being created.”
