News Desk: Former Goa chief minister Luizinho Faleiro and few others, on Wednesday, joined the TMC in presence of TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and other senior leaders such as Sougata Ray and Subrata Mukherjee.
After joining the party, Faleiro said “Today I am starting a journey with Didi because Goa needs a credible alternative. I request her to come to Goa to protect the identity and heritage of Goa”
“At the outset, I must say I am a Congress man. I have same ideology and principles. Today when I am joining the TMC, my dream is to bring together this Congress family. I should try to ensure that the Congress family is again united. My main aim is to defeat the BJP” he added.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter and said “It’s a matter of great pride for me to welcome Former Goa CM, 7-time MLA and stalwart Goan leader Shri @luizinhofaleiro to the Trinamool Congress family. Together we will stand up for every Goan, fight divisive forces and work towards ushering in a NEW DAWN for Goa”
She added “I am also pleased to welcome Former MLA from MGP Shri Lavoo Mamledar, Congress General Secretaries Yatish Naik & Vijay Poi and Congress Secretaries Mario Pinto De Santana & Anand Naik to the party”
Faleiro, who resigned as Congress MLA from the Navelim seat in Goa, in an address on Monday said “I suffered in dignified silence. If my suffering was so much, imagine the plight of Goans, who voted Congress to power. Let’s end this suffering and bring a new dawn in Goa”
He added “Mamata is a symbol of women empowerment and a streetfighter. She is fighting divisive forces. She poses a real direct challenge to the BJP. I request her to come to Goa and take charge”
