Goa: BJP karyakartas showed black flags and chanted Jai Shree Ram as soon as TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee landed

News Desk: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee landed at Goa, on Thursday, to interact with state TMC leadership and local politicians. She was welcomed by national TMC vice president and former Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro and Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar among others.

BJP karyakartas were also present at Goa International Airport where they waived black flags and raised slogans of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ to protest against Banerjee’s arrival. The BJP karyakartas breached the cordon set up by Goa Police during the protest.

Coinciding with Banerjee’s visit, hoardings of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ have been put up across the tourist state, reminiscent of similar slogans being raised during the bitter West Bengal elections. The BJP had used the slogan to rile the West Bengal chief minister but the state BJP unit has denied its involvement.

Meanwhile former legislator Lavoo Mamledar condemned the BJP for defacing and destroying posters put up by TMC. “There are video clips and photos of TMC posters are being torn, painted over. This is the first time that we have seen so much hatred. Why is there such a vitrolic practice and hatred now? It is clear that the BJP is afraid of TMC after the chargesheet that we released. They don’t have any answers against it” said Mamledar.
