News Desk: ‘Minority Appeasement’ is the first word that comes to mind when it comes to West Bengal Government and it’s leader Mamata Banerjee. Her policies received severe criticisms and slams from the Bharatiya Janata Party at both center and state level. As Muslims have a history of suffering under the BJP rule , so the chief minister offered them her helping hands and announced several beneficial schemes for them, which on some occasions infuriated the Hindus.
But the recent ill-treatment towards Dalits and the rapes taking place under the Yogi government has turned things in Mamata Banerjee’s favour. What made Banerjee won support are free housing and monthly allowances for Hindu priests and her recent setup of Dalit Sahitya Academy. A section of Hindus have started feeling an atmosphere of security if Mamata Banerjee wins the upcoming 2021 elections. In addition her effective protests for the Dalit rape victim also weakened the West Bengal BJP. Her declaration of allowing Durga Puja this year has also helped her to win Bengali support and this will play a key role in the upcoming 2021 West Bengal elections.
