Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu declared the heavy rain situation as disaster

Debjit Mukherjee: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has declared the heavy rain situation as a disaster. Already, the death toll due to rains and landslides in Seraj has exceeded 75. About ten thousand crores worth of property has been destroyed. At least six bodies are still believed to be buried beneath the ruins of the Shimla temple. The state government has written to the Center demanding to declare the situation in flood-hit Himachal as a national disaster.

Chief Minister Sukhu said on Friday that rescue operations are still going on in various parts of the state. Special arrangements have been made to rehabilitate those displaced due to the collapse. A delegation from the Center has already visited the affected areas. All in all, about ten thousand crores of rupees have been lost in the entire Himachal Pradesh.
