Debjit Mukherjee, Kolkata: Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari went to address the protest meeting of BJP Yuva Morcha near Jadavpur 8B bus stand on Thursday afternoon to protest the student death in Jadavpur University. While he was speaking, black flags were shown by ultra-left student bodies. It was from there that the ultra-left student organization was attacked. Some of the student leaders were beaten to the ground.
A member alleged that the BJP student organization had carried out the attack. Tathagata Roy Chowdhury, a member of the Revolutionary Student Front, said, “This is how BJP and TMC are inciting unrest in Jadavpur. Everytime when there is an attempt to undermine the democratic environment of Jadavpur University, we will resist in this way. That falls within democratic rights.”
