Tension in JU campus over TMCP deputation program

Debjit Mukherjee, Kolkata: Tension in Jadavpur University campus over the deputation program of the TMCP. On this day, members and supporters of several left student organizations and TMCP got involved in a scuffle in front of the university’s main office, Aurobindo Bhawan. TMCP alleged that they were prevented from entering. Even their female members alleged that they have been molested. However, the Left student organizations denied this allegation.

TMCP state president Trinankur Bhattacharya said, ‘We came here peacefully to submit the memorandum. But left organizations and SFI stopped us. They talk about democracy. Our girls are molested, physically abused. Are we being stopped because they are afraid that the use of alcohol and marijuana will be stopped inside the campus?’

TMCP leader Rajanya Halder said, ‘They talk big. But when we came here to submit our memorandum, we were not only physically and mentally harassed, we were also stripped of our clothes. My brother died, they don’t want the culprits to get caught.’ On the other hand, AIDSO and SFI allege that this incident has been planned by TMCP.
