“I have written three letters for removal of West Bengal Governor. He is a corrupt man, his name was in the chargesheet of Hawala Jain case in 1996”: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

News Desk: Addressing a press conference on Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched an attack on Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and called him a “corrupt” man whose name “was in the chargesheet of Jain Hawala case”.

She said “I have written three letters for removal of West Bengal Governor. He is a corrupt man, his name was in the chargesheet of Hawala Jain case in 1996”

“Why should he dictate even after our government getting a huge mandate?” she added.

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar also announced that he’ll address a press conference at 6.30 pm at Raj Bhawan today.

Hawala scandal

The Hawala scandal, also known as the Jain Diaries case or the was a hawala scam of the 1990s involving payments allegedly sent by politicians through four hawala brokers, namely the Jain brothers. It was a $18 million scandal that involving some of the country’s leading politicians.
