“I want a cultural board to be set up for the people of all races and communities who are left behind”: Mamata Banerjee

News Desk: Two days before Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s lunch with the Matua family at Adarshapalli in Newtown, chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced a set of programs at a meeting with representatives of various communities and folk arts in the state on Wednesday.

Earlier she had announced the Namashudra Development Board. A sum of Rs 5 crore has already been given to the board for their development. This time she announced the formation of Matua Development Board. The state government will provide Rs 10 crore to the new development board for the progress of the Matuas. She also announced formation of a development board with Bauri and Dule and two separate boards for the social and cultural development of Bagdi and Majhi communities and also said that 5 crore will be given to each board or development board.

Without taking the name of her arch rival Bharatiya Janata party she said “No one has thought about all these communities before. All big talks come during the vote. I want a cultural board to be set up for the people of all races and communities who are left behind. So that they do not forget their past”

She also talked about bringing Dokra and Chhau artists under the ‘Swasthyasathi Scheme’ and assured that from now on ordinary people will also get the benefit of the ‘Swasthyasathi Scheme’ at Delhi AIIMS and CMC Vellore. She also promised to build a community hall for chhau artists in Purulia.
