“I want Mamata Banerjee to become the Prime Minister in 2024”: Babul Supriyo

News Desk: After joining the ruling TMC, former Union Minister Babul Supriyo, on Monday, said that he wants West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee to become the Prime Minister in 2024.

The interview with Babul Supriyo

Who you want to see as Prime Minister in 2024?

“I want that the captain of our party Mamata Banerjee becomes the Prime Minister in 2024. Opposition plays an important role in a democratic system. Nobody can deny the fact that Mamata Banerjee is among the top frontrunners for the prime ministerial post”

What is the reason behind switching to TMC?

“I have not created any history by changing the party. A horde of leaders joined BJP from other parties before the West Bengal Assembly polls. There are resentments among the old leaders. BJP should ask them about their resentments”

The post poll violence…….

“Post-poll violence is not desirable. It is being proved. I want that compensation should be provided to people who were affected by post-poll violence”

Babul Supriyo joined the ruling TMC on September 18

Former Union Minister Babul Supriyo, on September 18, joined the ruling Trinamool Congress of West Bengal in the presence of the party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’ Brien.

He said “I’m very proud that I am changing my decision. I am coming back for a great opportunity to serve Bengal. I am very excited. I will meet Didi on Monday. I am overwhelmed by the warm welcome. I meant it from my heart when I said I’ll leave politics. However, I felt there was a huge opportunity that was entrusted upon me. All my friends said my decision to leave politics was wrong and emotional”

“Didi and Abhishek have given me a great opportunity. As I have joined TMC, there is no point in holding on to my seat in Asansol. I’ve come into politics because of Asansol. I will do for that constituency as much as possible. Mamata Banerjee needs no campaign but if the party considers me, I will be happy to campaign in Bhawanipore” he added.
