“It is a conspiracy to defame Islam and Muslims”: AIUDF MLA Rafiqul Islam on religious conversion in Uttar Pradesh

News Desk: The Uttar Pradesh Police’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Monday had busted a nationwide religious conversion racket and arrested two people. The UP police claimed that the racket involved the conversion of deaf children and women to Islam and more than 1000 people had been converted so far.

Reacting to the religious conversion issue in Uttar Pradesh, AIUDF MLA and party spokesperson Rafiqul Islam said, it is a conspiracy to defame Islam and Muslims.

“There is no provision in Islam to forcibly convert someone,” he added.

“In North East India and other parts of the country, lakhs of people have converted to Christianity. No one is talking about it. But some people are trying to defame Islam and Muslims. The Indian Constitution has given the freedom to every person as to which religion they want to follow,” Rafiqul Islam said.

Hitting out at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Rafiqul Islam said, “The election is going to be held in Uttar Pradesh and Yogi Adityanath’s boat has sunk. Now, they will not get any benefit by talking about Hindu-Muslim, religious conversions, etc.”

“What happened in Uttar Pradesh during the Covid-19 pandemic? Dead bodies of Covid-19 victims were thrown into the River Ganga. The people of Uttar Pradesh are now in a mood to overthrow Yogi Adityanath,” the AIUDF MLA said.

Rafiqul Islam further added, “The economy of Uttar Pradesh and the country has now totally collapsed, but they are busy in discussing Hindu-Muslim.”

“Women are not safe in Uttar Pradesh, unemployment is soaring up, no development works have been done in the state. To hide this, they are talking about Hindu-Muslims. Don’t defame Islam by doing such things,” Rafiqul Islam said.

The AIUDF MLA said that Islam does not believe in forcible conversion and if someone likes a religion, they can adopt it.
