“There is no question of replacing Yogi Adityanath. He is and will remain our chief ministerial face in UP”: BJP leader Arun Singh

News Desk: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath will not be replaced before the 2022 assembly elections, said BJP leader Arun Singh. Singh, the party’s national general secretary, is also in-charge of the BJP’s Rajasthan and Karnataka units.

Arun Singh said, “There is no question of replacing Yogi Adityanath. He is and will remain our chief ministerial face in UP.”

The BJP leader’s statement aims to put to rest speculation about rumblings within the BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit.

In a letter to UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh on Monday, the party’s newly appointed UP vice president AK Sharma also said that the BJP will go into the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls with Yogi Adityanath as its face.

“In the 2022 UP polls to be held under your and chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s stewardship, the BJP would win even more seats than before,” said Sharma. AK Sharma is a retired IAS officer considered to be a close confidante of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Will act against those who say ‘Vasundhara is BJP’: Arun Singh

BJP national general secretary Arun Singh also said on Tuesday that the party has decided to round up leaders who go against the party line in Rajasthan.

“We have decided to prepare a list of those who have been indulging in activities against the party line in Rajasthan, of those who say ‘Vasundhara is BJP, BJP is Vasundhara’. We will try to make them understand. If they do not understand, action will be taken against them,” said Arun Singh.

The BJP leader’s remarks were a reference to the infighting within the BJP’s Rajasthan unit. Earlier reports have pointed to a power tussle between factions led by former chief minister Vasundhara Raje and BJP Rajasthan president Satish Poonia.
