Debjit Mukherjee, Kolkata: Assistant teachers of upper primary in trouble in recruitment case. Dismissing the judgment of Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, the Division Bench of Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Udayakumar made it clear, “For the recruitment of 2022, higher primary parateachers or side teachers can no longer participate in the primary parateacher recruitment process. Two separate processes. That is why the previous single bench judgment has been rejected. .”
It is to be noted that on November 21, 2022, Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, while giving directions, commented, “There is no guideline in the Primary Teacher Recruitment Act where an assistant teacher of upper primary cannot be appointed in the recruitment of primary teachers. Therefore, 10 percent of upper primary parateachers should be given an opportunity in the recruitment of primary teachers.”
