Key points in this series victory for Team India

News Desk: The Ajinkya Rahane led Team India on Tuesday won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by defeating the Aussies by three wickets. Coming to achieve the remaining 324 on the final day India lost Rohit Sharma early. Then a partnership between Gill and Pujara steadied the Indian innings. Gill got dismissed on 91 and Pujara on 56. Rishabh Pant scored a brilliant knock of 89 and helped Team India to cross the finish line with three wickets in hand.

But this series also proved to be a major series for Team India

Rishabh Pant answered his critics in style

Rishabh Pant was in the radar of critics for a long time due to his poor form. But two consecutive fifties in two second innings helped him to prove his critics wrong. Team India would be looking for more of such knocks in the upcoming series.

New opening pair

Previous opening pair Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw failed to create any impact in the series. So Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill replaced them and performed pretty decently. And in overseas conditions as well as in home conditions, the new duo can be very effective. Shubhman Gill emerged as a new star in the squad.

Backups in all departments

This series also gave Indian Cricket Team a lot of backups in all departments. Especially the partnership between Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur will make the selection process tough for the board. But options will be always there.

Rahane proved himself as a good backup captain in Virat Kohli’s absence

In Virat Kohli’s absence Ajinkya Rahane performed his duty as a captain in a great way. This series victory not only proved Rahane’s captaincy skills but it might also come out as a big worry for Virat Kohli. But overall Team India won’t have to worry about captaincy in Virat Kohli’s absence.
