Nandigram Case: Notice to be served to EC and RO, papers and EVMs to be preserved, next hearing on August 12

News Desk: Justice Shampa Sarkar, the new judge assigned for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s assembly poll challenge, on Wednesday asked that a notice be served to the Election Commission and the Returning Officer. She also asked that all the papers and Electronic Voting Machines related to poll be preserved.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended the hearing online. She alleged corrupt practices by LoP Suvendu Adhikari including bribery, promotion of hatred and enmity, seeking votes on the basis of religion and booth capture.

In her petition, she also talked about discrepancies in the counting procedure and discrepancies and non-compliance in Form 17C, which is the account of votes recorded and the result of counting.

The next hearing in the case will be held on August 12.
