“Pandemic situation has eased a bit due to the restrictions”: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

News Desk: Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced extension of lockdown till June 15. She also announced that Class 12 Board Exams will be held in late July and Class 10 Tests in mid-August.

She said “For the sake of the economy there will be no total lockdown. Pandemic situation has eased a bit due to the restrictions”

“All offices will remain closed. Only essential services will be allowed. Petrol pumps will remain open and so will banks, but only between 10 am to 2 pm. Shops providing daily utilities like milk, vegetable, fruits etc. will be allowed to open between 7 am and 10 am. Shops selling sweets can open from 10 am to 5 pm. Movement of private vehicles, taxis, buses, metro rail, suburban trains will not be allowed during the restriction” she announced.

Regarding the Class 12 Board Exams and Class 10 Tests she said “We have decided to hold the Class 12 Board Exams in late July and Class 10 Tests in mid-August adhering to all COVID-19 safety protocols. Both the board examinations will be held at home centres and only for compulsory subjects. The dates will be announced later by the respective boards”
