Political violence in Tripura continues, opposition candidates attacked, Sec 144 imposed

News Desk: As civic polls are knocking at the door, the political violence in Tripura is getting more and more intense. Not only communal attacks, but candidates of opposition parties are also becoming victims of such violence.

On Thursday, TMC candidate of Ward No. 15, Vikas Sarkar was brutally attacked by BJP goons. The AITC Tripura took to Twitter to condemn this attack and claimed that the attacks are result of fear of TMC’s expansion in the state.

In addition, they also complained that inspite of Supreme Court’s order for peaceful campaigning, attacks are still going on in the state.

The TMC also did a candlelight march as a way of condemning this attack.

Clashes also took place in the state as well. Section 144 was imposed in areas of the Khowai district Thursday after 19 people, including two policemen, were injured in clashes between workers of the BJP and the TMC last night.
