Rakesh Singh alleges Abhishek Banerjee plotting against him

News Desk: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rakesh Singh, arrested in the New Alipore drug seizure case, has now said that Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee and a police officer, Muralidhar Sharma, plotted against him. Abhishek Banerjee is the nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

As Rakesh Singh was being taken to the Alipore court, the BJP leader said, “Abhishek Banerjee and Muralidhar Sharma are plotting against me. The truth will come out.”

Earlier in the day, Kolkata Police had arrested one Suraj Kumar Sah near Orphangunge market in Alipore. Rakesh Singh said Suraj was his house servant and “they are now making a story” to trap him in the case.

With the fresh arrest, six persons, including two BJP leaders have been held so far in connection with the case. An IPS officer told PTI that Suraj was instructed by Rakesh Singh to take a scooty and wait near the post office.

“Amrit Singh, who is wanted in the case, escaped from the post office on the same scooty with help of Sooraj. The scooty has been seized,” the IPS office was quoted as saying.

He will be produced in the Alipore Court today.

Police had arrested BJP youth wing leader Pamela Goswami and two of her associates after seizing 90 gm cocaine from the car the trio was travelling in.

Pamela Goswami had said that the narcotics were planted in the car after which she was arrested by the New Alipore Police. Pamela had told investigators that Amrit Singh was in her car but escaped before her arrest. Pamela had alleged that Amrit Singh is BJP leader Rakesh Singh’s aide.
