West Bengal: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee warns center about the growing anger of the state government

News Desk: After aerial survey of flood-hit areas, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee slammed the DVC over discharging of water without informing the state government. She also warned the center over this as well.

She said “DVC has released water without informing the state. If it wants, it can hold another 2 lakh cusecs of water, if it does dredging. Otherwise, one day we will have to seek compensation from DVC. Because if water comes four times a year, all the money goes into the water”

Accusing the center, she said “DVC is under the center. The center will earn from us. And again and again DVC will release water and flood the state. Why should that be? The center should make a master plan. So the anger is growing”

“People have been buried. When people were sleeping, water has been released” she added.

She also informed “DVC has released 5.5 lakh cusecs of water. Eight districts have been flooded – East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Bankura, East and West Burdwan, Howrah, Hooghly and Birbhum. One lakh houses have been damaged”

“Four lakh people have been evacuated. Six lakh relief materials have been sent. Army has been deployed. 50 teams of NDRF and SDRF are working. A 24-hour control room has been opened in Nabanna” she added.
