Why BJP wants Suvendu Adhikari in their side?

News Desk: Senior TMC leader Suvendu Adhikari forwarded his letter of resignation as transport minister by fax to chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday but he has not yet left the ruling party. Arch rival Bharatiya Janata Party chief Dilip Ghosh on his resignation said “I have not spoken to Mr. Adhikari. He is welcome to join the BJP. He is a fighter. He will be given full respect in the party. This is the beginning of the end of the Trinamool. The party will disappear”

Now the question is why the arch rival wants Suvendu Adhikari in their side? Why Suvendu Adhikari is so important to them?

INFLUENTIAL GRASSROOT LEADER

Adhikari, with the help of Nandigram sentiment, won the Tamluk Lok Sabha seat in 2009 and retained it in 2014. After winning the Bengal election, he became a minister in the cabinet of Mamata Banerjee. He proved himself as an influential grassroot leader at districts of Murshidabad, Malda, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura and Birbhum and gave TMC vote bank.

INCREASE IN BJP PARTY MEMBERS

Suvendu Adhikari’s father Sisir Adhikari is the senior-most Lok Sabha MP for the TMC. He is an MP from Kanthi Lok Sabha constituency. Suvendu Adhikari’s brother Dibyendu Adhikari is a Lok Sabha MP from Tamluk and another brother Soumendu Adhikari is the chairman of the Kanthi municipal corporation.

It is said the Adhikari family always decides as a unit and whatever course Suvendu Adhikari takes, it would be followed up by the family. His father and two brothers leave the party when Suvendu Adhikari announces the decision.
