Yogi government slammed by SC over pending bail of undertrials

Debjit Mukherjee: Yogi Adityanath government criticized by the Supreme Court after it was found that 853 undertrials have been in jail for more than 10 years and their application is still pending.

In such a situation, the Supreme Court said “The accused should be given bail. Otherwise we will provide it. If you can’t handle it, we will. Both the High Court and the state have problems with this. Thus these people cannot be kept in prison indefinitely”.
