West Bengal: Sabyasachi Dutta returned back to TMC

News Desk: Sabyasachi Dutta, who had joined the BJP after quitting Trinamool Congress last year, has returned to the TMC after meeting with CM Mamata Banerjee.

Sabyasachi Dutta met Mamata Banerjee on Thursday and was later re-inducted into the party by Partha Chatterjee and Firhad Hakim.

Sabyasachi Dutta was the former Mayor of Bidhannagar before he quit the TMC to join BJP. Returning to the Trinamool Congress, Sabyasachi Dutta said, “Whatever I am or whatever I have received, is all because of the grace of Mamata Banerjee”

“There was some misunderstanding that had happened and I left the TMC” he said.

Speculation had been growing over the past weeks of Sabyasachi Dutta’s possible return to the TMC. Sabyasachi Dutta held the post of state secretary in West Bengal BJP. He had been in talks with the top TMC leadership over the past few weeks.

The once-influential TMC leader had joined the BJP in 2019, just before the Durga Puja. In 2021, he has returned to the TMC just ahead of Durga Puja.
