Bhawanipore bypoll: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attacks center over Pegasus issue, PM Cares Fund and NRC deaths

News Desk: Addressing a rally in Bhawanipore on Friday, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee attacked the BJP government at the center over Pegasus issue, PM Cares Fund and NRC deaths in Assam.

She accused the center of not maintaining transparency in transactions of the PM Cares Fund. In addition, she also slammed the saffron party over use of Pegasus software to snoop on the leaders of the Opposition parties.

“Lakhs of crores of rupees have been donated. So where is that money?”

She said “The Chief Minister Relief Fund is regularly audited. PM-CARES fund was formed for COVID-19, but yesterday they told the court that it is not a government fund”

“Government employees have donated money there, funds through CSR have been donated there, lakhs of crores of rupees have been donated. So where is that money?” she added.

“Union government snoops on opposition leaders; our phones are tapped”

Attacking the centre over use of Pegasus software, she said “It has been proven that the Union government snoops on opposition leaders; our phones are tapped”

“The Centre bought this software from Israel to snoop on us. No one can speak out against them. If you speak out, efforts will be made to intimidate you by using agencies” she added.

“There is no law in BJP’s rule”

Hitting out at the BJP over NRC deaths in Assam, she said “I heard a worker of the BJP had died months after the elections. Such deaths are always unfortunate. They came with the body near my house. Several people were killed in Assam over NRC. Don’t you have any shame? There is no law in BJP’s rule”

“The BJP is insanely violent, cruel and murderous. They are indulging in hooliganism every day. They are bombing their own houses and saying they are being attacked. Who will attack you? We feel embarrassed to even touch you. The TMC is not a party of goons” she added.
