Bhawanipore bypoll: Police prevented state BJP chief from campaigning

News Desk: The newly appointed state BJP chief Sukanta Majumder, on Wednesday, claimed that their party’s campaign on Harish Chatterjee Street, which leads to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence, was stopped by the police. BJP MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato and Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Akash Magharia got involved in a spat. Words were also exchanged between an angry Majumder and police.

Allegations of stopping BJP’s campaign was also made earlier by the party’s candidate for the Bhawanipore seat, Priyanka Tibrewal.
