“BJP leadership’s communal rhetoric and politics of threat and intimidation only helped Mamata Banerjee”: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury

News Desk: West Bengal Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday took a dig at Bengal BJP and said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s success in the assembly election is a result of BJP leadership’s communal rhetoric and politics of threat and intimidation. He also said that it’s not the chief minister only who has defeated BJP, but others such as MK Stalin, Arvind Kejriwal, Pinarayi Vijayan have also done the same.

Chowdhury said “BJP leadership’s communal rhetoric and politics of threat and intimidation only helped Mamata Banerjee. Without taking away credit for the fight she put up, I would say she was an incidental beneficiary in these polls”

“It’s true that she has put up a fight against the BJP and its election machinery. It’s a magnificent victory, no doubt about it. But at the same time, she is not the only regional leader who has defeated the BJP… Arvind Kejriwal, Lalu Prasad Yadav, M K Stalin, Pinarayi Vijayan, too, have done the same. So, saying that she is the only face would be an injustice to others” he added.

He also said “Opposition’s grand alliance against BJP will not succeed without participation of Congress. We are still the biggest opposition party in the country with a pan-India presence”
