Four year old girl allegedly raped by a 23 year old UP man

News Desk: In the latest case in the series of sickening sexual assault incidents in the country, a four-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped, raped and threatened by a 23-year-old man, identified as Sonu alias Bunty Verma, within the jurisdiction of Sachin GIDC police station in Surat district of Gujarat.

According to the police, Verma, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, is a worker of a local dyeing mill. One month ago, he shifted to a rented room near the minor girl’s residence.  Around 11:30 pm on Monday, the girl’s parents, who are also migrant workers, realised that she was missing. They flared up in a search for her.

The minor girl’s brother told them that she went with Verma. Following this, the girl’s parents rushed to Verma’s room. “Despite repeated knocking, Verma did not open the door and the parents and neighbours broke it open. They found the minor bleeding. The accused went to sleep after raping the minor,” a report stated.

Subsequently, the police were informed and the accused was detained under kidnapping and rape charges under the Indian Penal Code. Relevant charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act have also been invoked against him. Police inquiries revealed that he had threatened the girl with a knife while sexually assaulting her. Furthermore, it is suspected that at the time of the commission of the offence, the accused was drunk.

In another incident, a five-year-old girl was allegedly raped, sodomised and killed by a 27-year-old man who had been nursing a grudge against her father. The incident happened in Surat district’s Hazira area.

The accused, during questioning, told the police that he sexually assaulted and murdered the minor as he held a grudge against her father over a quarrel that occurred in 2019.
