“Her politics is not limited to just protests, but it has crossed a dangerous limit of vengeance”: Prime Minister Narendra Modi

News Desk: Addressing a public meeting at Asansol on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s politics is not limited to just protests, but it has also crossed a dangerous limit of vengeance. He even accused her of playing politics with dead bodies.

He said “Didi, who speaks of Ma Mati Manush, has spread mafia raj here. Her politics is not limited to just protests, but it has crossed a dangerous limit of vengeance. What happened in Cooch Behar…you must have heard the audio tape. The audio makes it clear how after the painful deaths of five people, Didi is playing politics…A Cooch Behar TMC politician is heard being advised to take out a rally with dead people. To what extent will you go for vote bank politics, Didi? The truth is that Didi thought about her political advantage even through the dead people. Playing politics over dead bodies is an old habit of hers”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also accused the Trinamool Congress of putting pressure on the Election Commission of India (ECI) to thwart the polling process. “This time Didi and her party is not being allowed to resort to rigging during the election. This is the reason why she is trying all means to subvert and stop the elections” he said.

Raising the issue of the 2018 panchayat election in the state, PM Modi said “People have not forgotten how the democratic rights of the people were subverted during the local elections. In 20,000 seats, which is almost one third of the total seats TMC candidates won without a contest. Those from the Opposition who had filed nomination had to take shelter in other States. Nomination papers had to be submitted over the internet on Whatsapp”

Referring to the communal riots in Asansol three years on the occasion of Ram Navami celebrations, PM Modi blamed the Chief Minister for the violence. “Who stood with rioters, who was indulging in politics of appeasement?” he asked.
