How Mamata Banerjee contesting from Nandigram is a big blow to BJP?

News Desk: “How would it be if I stand from Nandigram? I was thinking…hence I’m saying it. It is my wish. It’s a rural area. It is an area close to my heart. It is an area I love. I may not be able to give much time here during the elections because I’m fighting 294 seats. So, please handle this for me. And after elections, I will handle everything for you” these words from West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee created a fuss in the political world of the state. In addition, the ABP C-Voter survey also gave upper hand to the TMC supremo by giving TMC 158 and BJP 102.

But this announcement is a real game changer for the ruling party and also a big blow to the arch rival Bharatiya Janata Party.

Suvendu Adhikari won’t be able to create any impact

Mamata Banerjee’s announcement was not just an announcement but also a direct challenge to the BJP and their major trump card Suvendu Adhikari.

Suvendu Adhikari was a major player in the Nandigram Movement starting 2007 against the Left. But Mamata Banerjee was the real face. And in this direct contest, Suvendu won’t be able to create any impact and in turn it’ll affect the BJP.

Winning back Jangalmahal

The effect of the Nandigram Movement helped Mamata Banerjee to win seats in the Jangalmahal in 2011 and 2016, but lost Jangalmahal seats of Purulia, Bankura, West Midnapore and Jhargram to BJP in 2019 Lok Sabha elections. So this major announcement can turn tables in favour of TMC again. And if TMC can hold on to South Bengal, as it did in 2019 as well, then this will be a huge success for the ruling party.

Boost the morale of TMC

Currently the TMC is going through a situation where they’re losing members to their arch rival Bharatiya Janata Party. In such a scenario, such strong words from chief minister Mamata Banerjee will boost the morale of her party. On top of that, this roaring announcement has made it clear that the Nandigram Movement was Mamata Banerjee’s only.
