Kangana Ranaut’s tweet to Rohit Sharma taken down by Twitter

News Desk: Twitter on Thursday put out a statement saying it had taken down a post by actor Kangana Ranaut in which she quote tweeted a tweet by cricketer Rohit Sharma over his remarks on the ongoing farmers’ protest.

Rohit, who is the vice-captain of the India’s limited-overs cricket teams, was among the many cricketers, including skipper Virat Kohli, who tweeted their support to the statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

Sharma wrote, “India has always been stronger when we all stand together and finding a solution is the need of the hour. Our farmers play an important role in our nation’s well-being and I am sure everyone will play their roles to find a solution TOGETHER. #IndiaTogether.”

The 33-year-old actress, who has been vocal about her support to the farm laws, then took a swipe at Rohit in reply to his tweet.

Soon after, Twitter removed her tweet for violating company rules. “We have taken action on tweets that were in violation of the Twitter rules in line with our range of enforcement options,” the microblogging website said in a statement. It also took down several other tweets with reference to the farmers’ protest.
