“The post-poll violence has outdone the 1946 riots, when communal clashes broke out in Calcutta on the Direct Action Day”: Suvendu Adhikari

News Desk: BJP Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari at an event in Kolkata, Suvendu Adhikari offered floral tribute to BJP workers who were allegedly killed during the post-poll violence in West Bengal.

He said “I bow to all of the BJP workers who lost their lives in political violence. The ones who offer prayers to Kali and Shiv have faced atrocities after May 2. Our MPs are protesting in Delhi. Today is the day to save Bengal”

Regarding post-poll violence in the state, he said “Election Commission was in charge when the incidents of violence took place. But at least 30 have died after Didi took the oath”

“Booth level and people of one community have been attacked. The ones who Didi claim to be ‘milk giving cows’ have attacked multiple villages. The post-poll violence has outdone the 1946 riots, when communal clashes broke out in Calcutta on the Direct Action Day” he added.

Adhikari claimed “The NHRC team still has multiple complaints with it. They visited the state after Calcutta High Court’s order, not that of Union Home Ministry”

Criticising chief minister Mamata Banerjee, he said “She doesn’t let debates happen in the assembly. No discussion on topics of home. When I said I am thankful to the people of Nandigram for electing me to the assembly, the TMC MLAs started shouting”
