TMC Sukhendu Sekhar Roy: New Economic Reforms Policy not discussed in Parliament, party will protest against it

News Desk: Trinamool Congress (TMC) has hit out at the Centre over its new economic reforms policy. TMC has said the new policy was not discussed in Parliament and the party will protest against it.

TMC also lashed out the central government’s National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP).

TMC MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy said this policy does not have the consent of the public as it was not listed in the BJP manifesto.

“It is alarming that perpetual lease has been granted to the private sector and this lease can be extended further. It will destroy the ecosystem. Work security will no longer exist and hire and fire policy will dictate. No strikes or protest will be allowed,” he said.

“The government is doing this because it has gone bankrupt. It is not working for the public but for corporate companies. We oppose this kind of economic reforms,” he added.

TMC has also alleged that a part of selling money is going to the BJP party office.

According to TMC, National Highways, 26,700 km roads, 400 stations and 150 trains, 42,000 circuit lines of Power transmission line, National gas pipeline will be leased out to the private sector.

TMC will be discussing the outline of the protest with other parties. “We will protest after discussing with other parties,” says Sukhendu Sekhar Roy.

He further stated that the Oil pipeline of 4,000 km, BSNL MTNL towers also will be sold out to private sectors. Coal and other minerals projects, 21 airports, 31 ports, two sports stadiums will be also sold.

“The main aim of this party is to do business. They are claiming the target of the govt is to earn Rs 6 lakh crore in six years. This govt will have a life of not more than 4 years, how can they do such things,” Said Roy.

The iconic Darjeeling toy train will also be sold out to private companies.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday launched the National Monetisation pipeline (NMP) in an effort to list out the government’s infrastructure assets to be sold over the next four years. Addressing the media, Sitharaman said the Budget identified infrastructure as the key focus for public expenditure.
